Dear SMN Graduates, welcome again. This is your first business advice newsletter. I will aim to send one per week. Please do comment with your questions and thoughts, so that I know what is of most interest to you.

The very first rule of business is focus and passion. You have to love the idea of creating a business, and focus on what it will be, how it will operate, who you want to work with, how your business time will be spent.

If it’s not happening, or if you feel hesitant, try analysing where is your main focus at the moment? What are you most tuned into? For women it’s often family and relationships rather than career. You can have both, but you must focus on both. Whatever you focus on, you get more of (Paul McKenna never said a truer word).

Focus is why prayer works. We manifest things into our lives by focusing or meditating on them. We don’t actually need to get down on our knees, put our hands together and speak to God. It’s the thought energy, and the faith that a higher power can deliver our desires, that gets us what we want. But sometimes not in the way we expect!

Some people are better at it than others. That’s because they feel they really deserve and are ready for what they are asking for. If things are not happening for you, maybe you’re asking for something that you’re secretly hoping won’t happen; maybe you’re afraid of the result? It can be something as simple as fear of asking people for money.

So my very first advice is: be clear what you want. If you are hesitant, if the drive isn’t there, the solution is to analyse your desires, passions, and the reasons for your hesitation or lack of confidence. To identify any blocks, maybe try looking for motivational speakers and attend their events?

Once you have a clear aim, focus on it. Think about it a lot. A lot! This makes you a magnet for ideas, solutions and inspiration to come to you, sparked by what is around you, by the people you meet, the TV programs you watch, the books you read.

All this is actually the basis of the world’s most ancient religions: that you attract to you what you truly want, but before that can happen you have to know what you want. If it’s jumbled up with many other things, and lacks clarity, the energies of the universe will be confused too. They need you to send them a strong message.

Does this make sense? Questions welcome!
      Linda
